GIULIO MAZZONE

My name is Giulio Mazzone, and I graduated from the University of Siena. My educational journey at Siena has been foundational for my career in economics and finance, setting the stage for both my academic achievements and professional growth.

My time at the University of Siena, where I completed my M.Sc. in Finance, was instrumental in shaping my academic and professional path. The programme provided a solid foundation in financial theory and quantitative analysis, which proved invaluable in my subsequent roles. Beyond technical skills, the dynamic learning environment, supportive faculty, and diverse cohort fostered critical thinking and a global perspective on finance and economics. The connections and experiences I gained at Siena continue to influence my current work and life.

Currently, I am an Economist at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), where I have the honour and pleasure of working for the Environment Directorate, in the Biodiversity Team. My work focuses on the economic and financial aspects related to biodiversity and nature. Prior to this, I spent four years with the Directorate for Financial Affairs, in the Sustainable Finance Team. The expertise I began building at Siena lies in analysing financial markets, assessing financial stability risks, and advancing sustainable finance initiatives.

Moreover, the University of Siena equipped me with the tools and skills to work in both the public and private sectors—I have worked for an Italian bank and a consulting firm—and to further my academic journey by pursuing a Ph.D. in Economics and Political Economy at another Italian university.
