Francesco Roccazzella
I obtained my PhD from the Université catholique de Louvain in 2023, after completing MSc degrees in Finance and in Money and Finance at the University of Siena and the University of Ljubljana. I subsequently served as Professor of Finance at IESEG School of Management in Lille and, since 2026, I have been appointed Senior Research Economist at the National Bank of Belgium, where I combine academic research with policy‑oriented economic analysis. The University of Siena played a profoundly formative role in both my personal and professional development. Through first the BSc in Economics and Banking and then the MSc in Finance, I gained not only strong quantitative foundations but also the curiosity and confidence to pursue an international academic career. The double‑degree program with the University of Ljubljana was a true stepping stone: it broadened my perspective, strengthened my research ambitions, and ultimately set me on the path toward a career in academia and central banking.
Siena’s supportive environment, exceptional faculty, and strong sense of community continue to shape how I think, work, and approach economic and financial research today.
